Thoughts of a Princess

New Falls Shows

Brothers and Sisters
I have just started watching Brothers and Sisters. I am only a few minutes into it. I am bored. This is boring. I hate shows that talk about politics. That is why I didn't watch the West Wing. I sat there watching the opening credits pass with tv greats like Marti Noxon, Greg Berlanti and Ken Olin and I tried to like it. With these three you can't go wrong right? And the cast is great. And the put it on in Grey's old timeslot. Hello...sucess on a silver platter? So why doesn't it work? The politics for one. The sterotypical tokin gay, troubled marriage, drug problems...blah, blah, blah. Maybe this show was doomed from the start and now matter how you dress it up it will never be good. You can't hide behind big names, good time slots and buzz..

But who knows. I am only half way through the first episode. Usually I give shows more of a chance. I watched Three Moons Over Milford! But with virually no bad shows the bar being raised even higher this year and the time has come to be selective. There are much more good shows this year...

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Wow, wow, and more wow. I had heard this was the best show of the season. Everyone weas talking about it. But I was never that excited. I am not a big Aaron Sorkin fan and I hated the West Wing and I just didn't like all of the lets see how many obsure references we can fit here thing. But with this show...the obsure references are about something I know everything about...tv! And don't even get me started about Matthew Perry. This role was made for him. He is so good I can't even stand it. I am in awe of him. I have seen his work over the years and have always loved him, but oh my gosh...this is something completely different. And Amanda Peet...whom I have never really liked in any role just for the simple fact that she plays psychoticly funny women in all of her movies...is simply stunning. I am in love with that cool, confident smile. I wish I could do that. The music, the editing, the everything is soo tight! I can't even believe how good this show is.

Ugly Betty
I love this show. It is not what I thought it was going to be, but it is awesome. It is like the spanish novella version of Devil Wears Prada. And Daniel and Betty are so sweet together. I have a feeling they are going to become great friends and partners. Like Bones and Booth...you know without all of the blood and sexual tension.

I like cheese

I like cheese. Profound statement. I am sure you all care.

What is it with these celeb blogs? They write things like "I like cheese" and we are all in awe. No one cares if I like cheese. Just because Zach Braff is famous doesn't mean that his admiration of cheese is any better than mine. We like cheese just the same. Rosie O'Donnell could write about how she farted (I think she has written about that actually...) and we would all laugh and talk about how profound that statement was...

Maybe that is why shows like Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Duets are so popular. We like to see famous people are really like. Can you imagine if this trend continues...

Eating with the Stars

Watching TV with the Stars

Cleaning with the Stars

WILL THIS EVER END???!!!

Emmys and the VMAs

It is a sad, sad world when the Emmys are more exciting than the Video Music Awards...I expected more from MTV.

But when both of the award shows aired last week, it seemed as if Conan and his Emmy awards beat out Jack Black and the VMAs...

The Emmys, even though the list of nominees looked more like a blast from the past than the cutting edge nominations that we had hoped for, was funny without being rude. Conan can make anything funny...even annoucing the accounting team.

The VMAs have always been a site of controversy, people fighting, climbing on the set, and then the infamous Britney-Madonna-Christina kiss. But this year...yawn...nothing much happened. The preshow interviews were either with black rappers who I had never heard of or punk rockers who I had heard of but did recognize. Seeing clean-cut Nick Lachey was a welcome change!
